It is with great honor that I assume the Presidency of the ABHRS for 2017. I am humbled by the trust deposited in me and thankful for the opportunity to continue to serve this incredible organization. I wanted to take this opportunity to congratulate our outgoing President, Dr. Michael Vories, on a job very well done and thank him for his efforts and ideas, which helped increase even more the ABHRS’ recognition.
This year we celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the first class of diplomates of the ABHRS, so special congratulations to them and to the Founding Members of the ABHRS, who had the vision of creating this organization. We are planning something special for them, but for now it is still a secret…
One of the goals we have for this year is to continue to work on Dr. Vories’ idea of creating a blog or a forum to allow patients to interact with us and to also increase the value of the ABHRS certification. To accomplish this goal, my first “act” as President was to create an ad-hoc Committee to continue to work on this project, appointing Dr. Vories as the Chair. He graciously accepted, so we expect this project to move forward this year.
Watch for a Survey regarding the goal of creating a forum as mentioned in the above paragraph. We are asking for 100% participation in responding to this survey whether you are interested in participating in the forum or not.
Our other area of work will involve continued efforts to increase the recognition of the ABHRS diplomates as experts in our field, and through these efforts, increase the number of doctors who see the value in becoming diplomates, which will in turn increase our membership and revenues, allowing us to invest more in these strategies. Marketing the ABHRS involves various areas. Now that we have our new website up and running, we need to continue the grass roots movement of increasing awareness of the ABHRS among our colleagues, and making the written and oral exams available at different locations around the world.
Speaking of exams, I would like to congratulate the physicians who passed the last Certification Exam in Las Vegas:
